3S Artspace invites applications from qualified artisans to apply to the first annual form + function artisan fair to be held onsite in Portsmouth, NH on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018.  For this two-day event, we will present original work by 45 unique and talented craftspeople to the greater Seacoast community.   Our venue includes a performance space, gallery, and lobby.   Live music will be featured at the event, and a bar will provide brunch style cocktails in the morning, beer/wine in the afternoon.   An on-site restaurant serving brunch and dinner will provide for even more festivity.

Criteria:  Work will be considered from all major arts and crafts categories.  Artisans will be selected based on originality, quality, fit with the Seacoast market, and availability of space.  Only original, hand-crafted work by the exhibitor will be considered.  Imports, items created from kits, and wholesale/manufactured goods, will not be considered.  Sale of work not listed on application form is not allowed.  Artists must be present at fair.  

Submission Deadline:  May 1

Selection/Jury Process:  The jury will notify all applicants of their status no later than May 22.

Application Requirements:  One image of your complete display and three images representing the works for sale at the show.  Images upload directly to this site.

Spaces:  6x 10 booth space.   Space assignments will be made at the discretion of the committee.  Exhibitors are expected to provide their own display equipment.  Electricity is available, as are limited tables for rent if necessary.  

Jury Fee:  A $10.00 submission fee is required for those wishing to apply.  This is non-refundable and supports our non-profit arts center.  

Space Fees:  Space fees will be $200/weekend and will be due within one week of an acceptance notice.

Sales:  Artisans retain 100% of sales.  

Security:  Although general security will be provided on site Saturday and Sunday, it is recommended that all merchandise be removed from the displays overnight.

Expected Attendance:  This is our first Form and FUNction.  We are within walking distance of public parking facilities, the heart of downtown,  and many hotels.  We present to over 20,000 audience members each year and you can count on us to market for success.

3S Artspace is a 501c3 nonprofit alternative arts organization that combines the only midsize, flexible performance space of its kind in the area, a large, non-commercial gallery with affordable artist studios above, and an affordable and approachable restaurant serving as a local hub, ideal as a gathering place for patrons and locals alike.

Currently we are fielding inquiries for a wide range of private events in each or all of our spaces and are open to exploring creative uses of the facility.

We offer:

  • a flexible performance space with state-of-the-art A/V equipment, bar, modular staging, and a standing capacity of 400.
  • a spacious gallery with 25 foot ceilings, state-of-the-art lighting, and a standing capacity of 150.
  • on-site catering from our full service restaurant, Block Six.
